Our Accredited Practising Dietitian can provide evidence based nutrition advice for a range of medical conditions. Dietetic services available include:

Individual nutritional assessments of residents

  • Initial assessments
  • Management of pre-existing conditions

Menu reviews

  • Supporting organisations to capture consumer mealtime preferences routinely. This may be done by reviewing a ‘mealtime preferences survey’ and recommending preferences be captured on admission into the service and at regular intervals
  • Seasonal menu reviews and advising on menu planning templates

Supplement reviews and audits

  • If you find that at your facility there are many types of supplements available (particularly many types that have a similar energy or protein content), it may be useful to consult our dietitian to streamline the types of supplements you stock. This will help reduce wastage, cost and timing associated with ordering many types of supplements.

Assistance with audits including:

  • Mealtime environment and staff mealtime support; to provide improvement suggestions, taking into consideration the music, interaction, table settings, menu boards, crockery/cutlery, area between chairs/tables, lighting, colour contrast etc.

Malnutrition screening, assessment and management

  • Policy reviews to ensure Nutrition Assessment is required for patients identified with high nutritional risk issues such as oral health issues, dysphagia, dementia or pressure injuries
  • Provide recipes (e.g. High Protein, High Energy milkshakes, recipes for texture modified diets) and food fortification tips

Nutrition and hydration education programs for nursing, catering and care staff, to cover areas such as:

  • Special diets
  • Medical Nutrition Therapy
  • Mealtime support and creating a good eating environment, to optimise food intake
  • Malnutrition
  • Cost saving strategies
  • Nutrition in palliative care
  • Maintaining dignity when feeding
  • Healthy eating and various cultural diets
  • Education to assist in the early identification of nutrition risks and timely referral to dietitians 

These can be delivered by presentations, workshops, written summaries or webinars.
