Danielle Fletcher

I am a dietitian and a mum of 3 young children. When I am not at work, I enjoy being active outdoors with my children and looking for new places to explore. In my younger years, I was a competitive swimmer and I still enjoy time in the water, whether that be the beach, pool or river. I also enjoy being creative in the kitchen, when I have the time!

Chronic Disease: I enjoy working with all types of chronic disease, but particularly diabetes management. It is a fast evolving field and I enjoy being part of the advancements that are happening rapidly to help clients manage their diabetes.

Disability: I enjoy working with clients with physical and intellectual disabilities, supporting them in whatever way they require. I especially like being able to build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and assisting them to achieve their dietetic goals.

I enjoy the emerging Health At Every Size (HAES) approach to dietetics, which aims to move away from a weight-centred approach as a focus for health, and promote self-care through addressing health behaviours. The principles of this approach involve weight inclusivity, health enhancement, eating for well-being, respectful care and life-enhancing movement.

I thoroughly enjoy being part of a multi-disciplinary team, whereby we can collaborate to get the best outcomes for clients and address many of their needs in the one place.

I have travelled to 30 countries! My favourite places are Canada and Norway.
