Regan Moran
I moved from Canberra to the Hunter Region to study Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Newcastle in 2020. In my previous life I worked in construction before moving into security for several years. One of my main reasons for studying dietetics is a desire to help people. I didn’t know exactly what a dietitian did but I knew they spoke with people about food and I love food (who doesn’t?)! What I have learnt is dietitians are nutritional experts that look to help people make informed and sustainable dietary choices, addressing individual health needs and fostering a holistic approach to overall well-being.
I enjoy going on new adventures, be it overseas or even in our own backyard and trying the different foods on the way.

Clinical Areas of Interest
Chronic and complex health conditions:
Whilst on a 10-week placement I discovered my passion to work with client’s long term. Being able to work alongside my clients and see what works well for them and their changes is truly something that motivates me to continue being a great dietitian.
Men’s health:
I am passionate about providing a space where men feel as though they can be themselves. My previous work history in construction, security, retail and cleaning enables me to connect and relate well to many of my male clients.
Sports:
Growing up I played a lot of sports and even now I enjoy being active. One of the many reasons I became a dietitian is to utilize the knowledge I learnt and put it into practice on myself for overall health and performance.
I want it all:
I want to continue improving and broadening my scope of practice to allow me the ability to help as many people as I can.
favourite approaches to therapy?
I love to work with my clients to create plans best suited to their needs and preferences.
Favourite thing about your job?
Educating clients to give them the confidence to make smart nutritional choices.
Fun Fact!
I won my first arm-wrestling competition at the University of Newcastle in 2023. Unfortunately I had to immediately retire due to my old age.
