About the business

Raymond Terrace Therapy provides a multidisciplinary team approach. With our clinic located inside Capital Chemist Raymond Terrace (30 minutes north of Newcastle), we offer clinic, home and community consultation.

With a focus on disability across all ages, the Speech Pathologist will provide assessments, therapy and parent/carer training.

About the role

You will provide clinical services within our head office (Raymond Terrace). The Speech Pathology service will provide a comprehensive range of disability services for individuals living with mild to complex needs. The predominant focus of this role is to assist clients achieve their therapy goals, whilst working in a larger picture of an allied health team. Therapy is goal-oriented and client-centred and involves working with various stakeholders (preschools, schools, coordinator of supports, support workers and families).

Essential criteria

  • Bachelor degree or Masters degree in Speech Pathology
  • Speech Pathology Australia Membership
  • Working with Children check/Police check/Driver’s license
  • Ability to build meaningful and ongoing relationships with clients, parents and greater community

Desirable criteria

  • Post graduate Speech Pathology experience working with children and adults.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NDIS practice standards
  • Experience working as part of a team and also autonomously
  • Knowledge of evidence-based assessment and management for developmental speech and language disorders and paediatric feeding.
  • Experience in the provision of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), both low and high tech.
  • Experience working with adults in the areas of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), intellectual disability, aged care or after stroke. Corresponding skills in dysphagia, dysarthria, dysfluency and dysphonia treatment.
